Top 10 Digital SLR Cameras
PCWorld has just reviewed and rated their top DSLR camera models for 2008. The list includes all price points, from the latest technology down to entry level models. It is interesting to see that three of the top 4 models are from Canon.
1) Nikon D90 $1250 The D90 is our top rated model primarily for offering both great image quality and terrific design, including basic video recording.
2) Canon EOS 50D $1600 While it is not a “must-buy” upgrade over the Canon 40D, it does offer some new and friendly shooting modes and features.
3) Canon EOS 450D Digital Rebel XSI $799 While the Canon Rebel Xsi may provide a strong range of capabilities, it may cost more money than entry-level digital SLR buyers want to spend on a new camera.
4) Canon EOS 40D $1299 This is a feature-packed SLR camera that produces great images and it will appeal to both pros and enthusiasts.
5) Sony DSLR A-300 $550 Very well designed, easy to use, comes with a tiltable LCD and real-time, fast live view previews.
6) Olympus Evolt E-510 $600 While this DSLR camera does offer many advanced features for the cheap price, some of the sophisticated functions can be difficult to use and access.
7) Olympus E-3 $2700 A big, rugged, heavy, DSLR camera that has extensive advanced controls, can autofocus very quickly, and has fast burst-shooting speed.
8) Canon EOS Rebel XS / EOS 1000D $700 Even though it is an excellent entry-level SLR, its more full-featured brother, the Rebel Xsi, outperformed this model in our reviews and ratings.
9) Pentax K20D $1000 Although the Pentax K20 does many things well, its slow autofocus can frustrate users.
10) Nikon D60 $650 Reviews show that this digital SLR camera from Nikon produces pleasing pictures, however it does offer minimal improvements over the Nikon D40 for a higher price.
