Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 DSLR Camera Review

Some of the pro, cons, and comments from various Digital SLR Camera reviews of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 include.

Pros:  This Panasonic model has excellent photo quality. Sharp images with very little or no noise up to ISO 1600. Very fast. This model comes in numerous colors.

Cons: No movie capture function. Not the most user friendly camera, and the design can be frustrating to figure out. It is marketed as a very small SLR, but it reality it is very close in size to the Olympus DSLR 420.

Comments : The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 can match similarly priced DSLR models in photo quality, speed, and features. However, the shooting experience is not the best.

Additional Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 review comments :

-The Panasonic goes from power on to first shot in a very quick 0.8 seconds. It can focus and shoot in 0.4 seconds in high contrast conditions. And in dim settings, the time is .6 seconds. This performance is very good when compared to other DSLR cameras in its class.

-As with its performance, reviews show that the Panasonic G1 displays excellent photo quality that rivals similarly priced dSLRs.

-Noise control is very good with the Panasonic DMC-G1 at low to mid range ISO settings. Noise is not a problem until ISO1600 is reached. However, when it gets there, there is a big step down in photo quality.

Compare to the Olympus E-520. The Olympus E-520 digital SLR is a close competitor.

Compare to the Canon EOS 450D Rebel XSi. The Canon 450D is the top competitor of the Panasonic.
