Olympus Evolt E-510 DSLR camera reviews

Reviews and ratings pulled from multiple websites on the Olympus Evolt E-510 have some of the following comments.

Pros: Highly effective image stabilization. Live View mode (LCD preview) functionality. Hardware based sensor cleaning and dust-removal system help keep this DSLR camera in top shape. Very good image quality. The Evolt E-510's images show very little noise at lower ISO settings. Inexpensive. Allows two different types of memory cards. Two levels of image stabilization to limit camera shake. Exposure bracketing is supported. Excellent battery life.

Cons: Autofocus is not the best. Has only 3 AF points. White balance not the highest quality. Dynamic range is not as high as some of the other entry level or basic DSLRs. Controls to use some of the more advanced features not as user friendly.

Comments : You can create very good photographs with the Olympus Evolt E-510. This is a larger, more expensive version of the E410. Live view allows you to look at the picture and adjust it before taking it. This model also does a decent job keeping “noise” under control up to 1600 ISO. Overall a great buy for the cost.

Additional Olympus Evolt E-510 review comments :

-The Olympus E-510 does not disappoint, and the images are great. The lower ISO setting provide very good images, but as ISO raises to around the 800 level, noise will start to appear.

-The E-510 may be the entry level DSLR with the most features currently on the market. While there is much competition, the Olympus has a major advantage point. It is a cheaper priced DSLR. If you are considering buying into the DSLR camera market with decent manual and auto modes, while also being portable and light, reviews show that this is a top choice.

-Features wise, the Olympus EVOLT E-510 includes manual shooting modes along with automatic modes. There are also a few scene modes for newer camera users. We were slightly disappointed by its three-point auto focus system, and the ISO setting is capped at 1600. But there is a custom white balance that comes along with full manual mode.

Compare to the Canon EOS 400D XTi. The Canon 400D is a natural rival to the Olympus.

Compare to the Sony DSLR A-300. The Sony DSLR-A300 and A350 are very similar, and both compete with the Olympus.

Compare to the Sony DSLR A-350. The Sony A300 and A350 are the primary Sony competitors to the Olympus.
