DSLR Camera Review

Compare the Canon Rebel EOS 400D XTi to the Sony DSLR-A100.

The Canon Rebel EOS 400D XTi’s main competitor from the Sony line is the Sony DSLR-A100 and the Sony is overall one of the greatest rivals.

Both of these digital SLRs have 10 Megapixel resolution, anti-dust capabilities and also use their screens to display shooting information. The big advantages for the Sony are :

  • anti-shake capabilities. In order to have this on the Canon you would require additional investment in Image Stabilised lenses
  • the Sony kit lens is also slightly longer than the Canon

To its advantage, the Canon has

  • more powerful anti-dust features
  • lower noise levels

However, when it comes down to it, while it is a tough draw, reviews show the Sony gets a higher rating because it features both anti-shake as well as a slightly longer 18-70mm lens kit. You get this for a DSLR camera that is about the same price as the 400D.
